Class 2

Background

 

Responsible for the installation of, sanitary pipe work & appliances, hot & cold supply pipe work, central heating pipe work and appliances, wiring of fully pumped hot water & central heating system,

maintains and commission of all above. Additionally, the installation of sheet lead weathering.

This is completed using materials of plastic, low carbon steel, copper, and sheet lead.

 

Qualifications

 

They gain the following civilian qualification Level 2 Apprenticeship with the Level 2 Tech Certificate (6035) being completed whilst at the RSME.

Class 1

Background

 

Responsible for the Design and installation of, sanitary pipe work & appliances, hot & cold supply pipe work, central heating pipe work and appliances, wiring of fully pumped hot water & central heating system,

maintains and commission of all above. Additionally, installs, maintain & fault finds on oil pipe work, vessels, appliances.  Conducts a task planning project on supply of water & waste for a 125 manned camp.  Is capable of undertaking heat loss calculation, design & size heating system, including pipe work, boiler, cylinder and pump.

This is completed using materials of plastic, low carbon steel, copper, and sheet lead.

 

Qualifications

 

Class 1 students additionally gain the following qualifications Gas Qualifications – Gas Safety, Gas Fires, Boiler, Central Heating, Water Heaters.  LPG Conversion & Vessels.  Water Regulations.

 


 

Fitter ACR

 

Class 2

 

Background

Responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance for basic refrigeration systems to include domestic, commercial and industrial units (small).  Tradesmen are also responsible for Refer Units (refrigerated ISO containers) and small ice machines.  Responsible for Split air conditioning units and limited Air Conditioning (AC) tasks (Central Plant). Responsible for in service AC Government Funded Equipment (GFE).

Constructs aluminium system scaffolding and are abrasive wheel operators. 

Qualifications

 

They gain the following civilian qualifications: City & Guilds Fluorinated-Gas Ozone Depleting Substances (2079).

 

Class 1

 

Background

 

As for Class 2. Additionally they carry out heat load calculations and designs packaged and controlled air conditioning systems.  Design, install and repair ductwork.  Installs, repairs, maintains and balances ventilation equipment. Installs, maintains and repairs liquid chiller systems.  Installs, repairs and maintains VRF/VRV air conditioning systems. Supervises class 2 ACR fitters.

 

Qualifications

 

RE CPD is currently seeking to develop a suitable Class 1 qualification.

 

These civilian qualifications run alongside your military qualifications. On completion of the course, you will achieve a recognised civilian award.

 

Many awards offered to serving Royal Engineers – such as National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) – are funded by REVETT and administrated by the RE CPD Team in collaboration with the Army unit concerned.
