Sgt Russell Scott is currently serving as the Royal Engineers Sports Parachuting Association (RESPA) Team Leader and first heard about RE CPD several years ago whilst on course at 3 RSME Regiment.
Always looking to broaden his skillset within sports parachuting, he decided to complete the British Parachute Association tandem parachute instructor course, both as a personal goal and to enable RESPA to conduct tandem parachute training as a means of introducing new people to the sport.
Having heard about the RE CPD Bursary Scheme as a possible way of offsetting the overall cost of the qualification, he checked out the scheme on the website and decided to apply. Once he had provided the CPD team with the required information, his Bursary was agreed.
“The course took longer than planned to finish, due to bad weather, but eventually I completed the training to become a fully-fledged British Parachute Association Tandem Instructor. Thanks to the agreed RE CPD Bursary and standard learning credits, the personal cost of earning this qualification has halved.”
