Study Grants

Study Grants exist to provide supplementary funding for individuals who wish to further their education and knowledge through a programme of study.  The course should be part of the individual’s personal development plan, but does not have to be directly related to work. It may lead to a higher-level academic qualification, other form of occupational proficiency or an augmentation of skills which provide tangible benefits to the Corps.

Funding levels are adjusted each year, according to available resources and are prioritised to support more junior members of the Corps.  Applicants who are not qualified above Level 3 and do not belong to a professional body can expect to receive up to £1,500 per year.  By contrast, applicants who are qualified above Level 3 and are members of a professional body can expect to receive up to £700 per year.  Limits apply of 3 x grants or £4,000 funding in total, whichever is reached first.

The scheme is open to all ranks of Royal Engineers and Queen’s Gurkha Engineers, both regular and reserve.
